a remarkable family

On our return home from Greenland, I watched a BBC documentary about the equally renowned son of Captain Robert Scott, Sir Peter Scott. Aside from being a brilliantly produced documentary which took equal measure of the many aspects of Sir Peter's life, it was a tribute to 'the Patron Saint of Conservation' as coined by Sir David Attenborough. He was a conservationist, painter and olympic sportsman - taking all of these passions to their top levels. He was responsible for a bewildering number of fundamentally important conservation movements including the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, the World Wide Fund for Nature and the Antarctic Treaty. Anyone with an interest in natural history, conservation, the Antarctic or a simply remarkable individual should investigate further - click here for a good place to start.
