respect for the mountains

I just returned to the UK a few days ago following some climbing in the Alps with friends.

We did some really solid climbing, much of it night-time and in high gradient, heavily crevassed areas. Weather conditions were however very poor, varying unpredictably between hot sun and storms - many of which brought along lots of lightning and snow. Unfortunately no summits were had by the team but valuable experience was gained. The most important thing to remember, especially when the summit beckons, is that you can always return to the mountains - they don't go away. This time they were not ready to be climbed and so we had to respect that and plan to return and have another crack! We have also brought back some great photographs which should make their way online soon!
